Feng Shui Balancing Tools, Including Color and Light
Feng Shui cures bring balance and harmony into your home and office. Everything in your home or office influences the movement of energy and can have an energizing, stabilizing or draining effect of the chi (energy). If used properly, feng shui balancing tools can help you achieve your desired result in a swift and effective manner.
Feng Shui Colors:
Different shades of color can uplift, depress, energize or drain you. Every color has its own unique vibration and has a purpose and a time to be used.
Red is a strong color, associated with fire. It can keep you going and help you move forward in life. Red is a good color for a dining room because it keeps occupants and guests energized and excited. If you desire a great deal of passion, red is the perfect color. However, if you’d prefer less sparks, stick with lighter shades of red such as pink.
Orange is a happy color that refreshes and revitalizes. Orange is a good color choice for kitchens and playrooms. Softer shades of orange can be used in family rooms if you want a place for fun and relaxation.
Yellow promotes creativity and vitality and is good for kitchens and home offices. Consider using yellow in guest rooms if you do not want your guests to overstay their welcome.
Green is a healing color and promotes calmness. It’s best used in living rooms and bedrooms, as it rejuvenates us and keeps us balanced.
Blue is another healing color, which promotes mental relaxation. This color is best used in rooms where you wish to keep occupants calm and relaxed. It’s a good color to bring into a room where someone is ill.
Indigo is a deeply relaxing color and is perfect for childrens rooms and can be used to keep health in the home.
Purple is associated with wealth, richness and transformation. This is a perfect color for meditation or spiritual rooms. Splash the color purple around each of your individual wealth guas for wealth and abundance.
The best source of light to bring into the home is natural sunlight. Lighting can uplift or calm an area and careful placement of quality light can help you change the feel of a room with the flick of a switch. Bright light promotes movement and activity and is referred to as ‘yang’ energy. To quiet an area, bring ‘yin’ energy into the room by using softer and lower lighting. A great way to control lighting is to install dimmers on your light switches.
Power of Touch:
Fabrics and textures have just as much of an effect on us as color and light, however we often go through the day without ever truly feeling what we touch. For one day, slow down and really feel the things you touch. Experience the warmth of your favorite chair. Run your hand across the smoothness of your dining room table. Feel the sensations from your clothing, pillows, linens and towels. Become more aware of how these sensations affect your energy.
Breathe:
Aromas are very powerful and are easy to bring into the home. Lemon can make your home feel light and airy. Lavendar can help you relax and feel calm and promotes harmony. We become familiar with the way our home or office smells. The next time you are away from your home for a few hours, when you return walk into your home with your eyes closed and really smell your home. What effect does it have on you? It’s easy to change the energy level of your home or office with essential oils, aromatherapy candles, incense and fresh air.
Savor the Flavor:
Did you know that each life area in feng shui is associated with one of the taste buds? To invite abundance into your home, drink lemon juice and water or choose foods that correspond to each of the guas below:
Career: Salty
Helpful People/Travel: Hot/Spicy
Children/Creativity: Hot/Spicy
Relationships: Sweet/Bland
Fame/Reputation: Bitter
Wealth: Sour/Tart
Family: Sour/Tart
Knowledge/Spirituality: Sweet/Bland
Living Things:
Pets, plants, and flowers uplift the energy in the home. Fresh flowers bring in fresh vibrant energy. Use the color chart above to help you decide which flowers to bring into your home or office.
Art Objects:
Artwork and decorative items can be powerful balancing tools. If you are stuck in your life, take a look at your artwork. What does it say about you? If you want a better relationship, include pairs of things, such as two dolphins, love birds or doves. If you want more fame, add photos of your mentors or of yourself receiving an award. Most of what we have hanging on our walls no longer corresponds with what we want today. Take down your artwork for a few weeks and place it in storage. Notice the changes that occur and determine your best course of action.
Go With the Flow:
Energy is constantly swirling around us. Many times we forget about the importance of air and its affect on us. A home with a sweet breeze is refreshing and uplifting. Give yourself an instant boost by opening a window, even on cold or rainy days if only for a minute.
Transform the energy in your home by incorporating these simple feng shui cures. And most important, have fun with Feng Shui!
