In olden times, houses always had the toilets located outside the main house. This was a very healthy practice because toilets are the places where we throw all our body’s waste. It is full of toxins, bacteria, etc. The remnants of these remain in the drain water of the toilet, and hence the toilet is a source of bad energy in every house. It always affects badly, the area of life aspirations of the Pa-Kua, wherever it is located in the house. Hence, a toilet should always be, at least designed to be located in the personal unlucky areas of the main earning member of the family. A detailed description of this is beyond the scope of the present book. This forms part of the eight-mansions-formula, of the Compass school of Feng Shui.

Anyway one has to accept the fact, that apartments today, do have attached toilets, hence the least you can do is to keep the toilet lid closed all the time except when it is being used. Likewise, the toilet door should remain closed except during the times of entry and exit. Then the bad energy of the toilet, does not mix with the good energy of the house. Also please use phenyl liberally to disinfect your toilets regularly, preferably daily or at least weekly.

Another important point to remember is, not to overdecorate your toilets. These days, there is a tendency among interior designers to decorate the toilets expensively. It is better to keep them simple.
