Vastu for a Brilliant Career
The best career advice to give to the
young is ‘Find out what you like doing
best and get someone to pay you for
doing it’
…Katherine Whitehorn
The concept of Vastushastra is based on the Vedic truth and the science is intended to utilize the natural forces and conditions for the well being of humanity. This well being is intended in its totality, including our personal and work life, encompassing a person’s ambitions and career goals. The Vedic texts assert that the divine exists within every person, within every building as well as in the external environment. This would mean that the divine is also present in our workspace, though many of us do not seem to acknowledge this fact. Work, for almost everyone, is a burdensome necessity and a hassling experience. Vastu, however, recommends that we turn our workspace into friendly spaces, by introducing energies that celebrate life. Once you introduce the principles of Vastu into your workplace, you will find that you have a wonderful new opportunity to find satisfaction in your work, which is an essential ingredient for a successful career.
The world we are living in is fast paced, where everyone is in a constant haste to make hay while the Sun shines. This has resulted in our not giving enough attention to our working environment and thus neglecting its sacredness. Some offices are so cramped that there is little space to call one’s own. There can be lack of natural Sunlight, and windows and ventilation that makes it difficult for those working in the office to feel interconnectedness with the rhythm of the universe. The lack of fresh air can also add to a feeling of claustrophobia within the confines of our workplace. To work in such an environment is challenging and so, the work is done viewed as a chore and is usually dreaded.
For success in one’s career, a person needs to take care of himself and also learn to skillfully manage his daily routine. The focus here is once again the interconnectedness of the universe, which the Vedas continually assert. A successful person is always one who disciplines himself and is careful of his habits and indulgences. Vastu can give help to one who is willing to develop himself by guiding him in building his personality for success. There are certain steps that a person can follow which would give him an opportunity to learn and benefit from the correct practices of Vastu.
Going back to the issue of a living workplace, Vastu can correct the wrongs that make work such a challenging task. It can put it back on the right track by reversing the negativity that filters the workplace. An adherence to Vastu will force us to slow our pace and help us to overcome the problems that come with being in a state of constant overdrive and tension. Since Vastu living emphasizes on the importance of natural respect, it can help foster a strong harmonious relationship between you and your colleagues to work together, and also between you and your workplace.
At this point, I am reminded of a story whose source is quite obscure but which has mythic elements. Once there was a monastery that had fallen into hard times though it had once been a great order. Now, the monastery housed only an abbot and four monks, all old and aged. In a forest nearby lived a rabbi, a Jewish teacher, who often came to this hermitage. The abbot visited the rabbi one day to ask if he could offer any advice to revive the dying order of monks. The rabbi could not give any help but as the abbot was bowing down to him, he said, ‘I have no advice to give. The only thing I can tell you is that the Messiah is among you.’ When the abbot returned and reported their conversation, the monks started pondering over who among them could be the Messiah. They started looking at each other and at themselves to seek qualities any of them might have that could mean that he was the Messiah. They started treating each other and themselves with extraordinary respect, considering the chance that the Messiah could be one of them. The people who came to the monastery could experience the positivity radiating in the place. Not long after, young men became attracted and started joining the monastery and the order of the monks became a thriving order again, all thanks to the rabbi’s gift of a vibrant centre of spirituality and light in the realm.
It was the possibility of God’s presence in their midst that made the monks show so much respect to each other that it changed the fortunes of their order. Vastu principles establish that God is indeed present in everything in the world, including our workplace, wherever and whichever area that might be. Understanding this and following the principles of Vastu can help every individual in the pursuance of their goals and change the course of their future.
Guided by The Vastu Purusha
The Vastu Purusha is the cosmic spirit of a site and is at the centre of Vastushastra’s concern with zones and directions. These zones, directions and the Vastupurusha mandala are as significant in a person’s career graph, as are its’ characteristics. The Vastu Purusha is held down in a squatting position by other deities, as instructed by Lord Brahma who also declared that this spirit must be appeased for the fruitful construction on any plot or land. This appeasement would also mean the appeasement of the deities who held him down. Every deity represents a function in the grand set up that runs the entire universe. Since every thing is interconnected, the construction of buildings according to Vastu guidelines lends a spiritual dimension befitting its holy occupants.
The Vastu Purusha must be worshipped on three occasions during the period of construction at the beginning while laying the foundation; in the middle while fixing the frame of the main door; and at the end of the construction. The periods between April-May, July-August, November-December, December-January and February-March are considered favourable for the start of excavation and fixing of the main door. As regards the commencement of . ‘ construction, the period between April-May will bring in I good results, while that between January-February and July-\ August is good for the welfare of the family. For the * acquisition of wealth and richness, the periods between October-November and February-March are considered auspicious. Auspicious days to start the work are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The main doors of a structure can be positioned according to an individuals sign:
Aries, Leo and Sagittarius - East
Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn - South
Gemini, Libra and Aquarius - West
Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces - North
In general, it can be said that fixing the main door facing East or North is the best.
For a thorough interpretation of the significance of cycles and auspicious signs, it is wise to consult a learned priest, an astrologer and a Vastu expert, for all other related details. Positive Vastu in your office can definitely boost your career. Keep in mind the various aspects of Vastu related to your office. Some of these are as follows:
Location of Your Chamber
Creating a good environment at your work place promises a stable future. Ultimately, it is your office where your thought processing, decision-making and career development takes place. Thus, choosing a proper and suitable location for you office is an important factor that goes a long way to affect your career. The north is an auspicious direction for your career and gives beneficial results. Remember that you should never have an office at the end of a corridor and if you already have one, it is better to opt to shift.
Different professionals have different modes of offices. If you are a writer, an artist or a research scholar, you will prefer to have an office that is secluded. An ideal location for your office would be along the back wall of the office with no entrance from outside. Such an office should not have a direct and immediate confrontation with the main entrance. The residential offices should not be located next to a bedroom, nor should it be made accessible through a bedroom, because this will lead to stress and instability in one’s marital status.
The offices of government officials and heads of corporate houses should be located far from the main entrance. It should not be a thoroughfare because that brings down the performance of the leader and, at times, may be fatal for the company as well. An office that is protected from interrupting visitors is bound to flourish.
Seating Arrangements
Besides your home, your office is the second place where you should feel comfortable. Irregular and poor seating arrangement can bring ill luck. Be careful about the seating arrangement in your office. While at business meetings, avoid pointed edges of tables. These create negative energies that can interrupt you from your path of progress. For good business make sure you sit facing the north as this is the direction of Lord Kuber the god of wealth.
Should you run short of chairs and you are compelled to bring in an extra one, do not fit yourself at the corner edge of a table. This makes you sit with the pointed edge of the table aimed directly at your stomach, which can bring in a lot of ill luck. Do not compromise by taking an extra seat for yourself and there is no need to be polite at the cost of your career.
While you are in a conference room negotiating your business, be seated farthest from the main door of the chamber. Do not sit with your back exposed to the entrance at it symbolically signifies a stab or deception from behind. So, avoid sitting with your back to the door or a window for it represents a lack of support and possible chances of bringing bad luck to you. If given the choice, go for a chair with a high back and an armrest that will provide not only balance but also support. While you are seated, look above and behind. Beams or fans positioned overhead are inauspicious. This can be cause enough for headaches and exertion and your performance and output could be inadequate or poor.
Finally, anything sharp and angular pointing directly at you should be avoided as this can create problems. Angular and pointed knobs on doors should be changed in your Corporate house. Sometimes, for the sake of interior decoration, such weird items are chosen and we may be caught unawares of the fact that negative energies are influencing our lives.
The Shape of your Desk
Geometry plays a significant role in our day-to-day life. There are no areas in our lives that have not been touched by geometry. Having a good shape and size of desk is always desirable. Should you want lady luck to come to you and never go away, welcome your clients by seating them at smooth rectangular desks. Oval-shaped, L-shaped or U-shaped desks are not favourable for growth in business, which is mandatory for an upward career graph.
Wooden desks are the most profitable of all. Elaborate and extensively carved wooden desks boost your career steadily. If your office or residential office is located in the East, a glass-topped desk is not favourable. However, if you are permanently settled in the West, you can always count on a glass top.
Placing the Desk
All of us have a right to reserve a seat somewhere or the other, but where you sit is the most primary question and the reason you are seated immediately follows up. Your desk represents the purpose of your presence. Therefore, placing it at an absolutely correct direction and angle gives you the power of immense good luck. For a genuine clue, never position your desk confronting protruding corners. Place an array of plants to conceal such edges. An office desk directly facing the main entrance or front door fetches bad luck. Your desk should not be placed directly opposite the door. Rather, place it in the far right corner, appearing diagonal from the door. This enforces the positives energies present in the room.
Place Flowers on your Desk
Flowers, the most wonderful and beautiful creation of nature, can be very inspiring. You will always love to associate yourself with flowers, and this becomes all the more important at your workplace. We admire the beauty of flowers while they bring myriad colours of satisfaction in our professional and personal lives. Place a vase of fresh flowers on the East of your desktop. There should be buds in the flower arrangement. Buds represent emergence of new life, while wilting petals signify gradual death. So, keep changing the flowers in your vase, replacing stale flowers with fresh ones as soon as they show signs of yellow pigmentation.
Plants
Plants symbolize life, endurance and growth. Imagine a world without plants. Plants have no adverse effects on our lives. Placing pots of plants around your office premises gives a sense of decor but placing it on the Southeast corner of your office fetches you good income and assures your growth financially.
Lights
Light is a form of energy that symbolizes wisdom and enlightenment of the human soul. Generally, light gives you a vision, but when speaking of career, light brings you good luck, name and fame only if you know where to place it. It ensures good business when placed in the southern corner of your table. It shows the attunement of your mind to brightness. For long-term effects, it boosts your good reputation whichever field of profession you practice in.
Crystals for your Career
Laws of reflection and refraction are basic knowledge known to all. We all know that light travels through a transparent medium, but that is not the end of it. If you want to be endowed with favourable energy, it would be in your favour to know that gems and crystals have an indirect but strong and effective influence in our lives. Career is one of the most important aspect of a persons life and there is no harm in trying your level best to add sauce to your life. A crystal at your office is helpful, both for its aesthetic value and a smooth career. Quartz crystals are auspicious for your desktop. Round and rectangular crystals refract good energy. Place a round crystal in the southwest corner of your desk. Good opportunities will knock at your door very soon.
Modern Equipment
Change is the essence of progressive life. Once a dream has been realized, it becomes a necessity. With advanced technologies, we have computers at our disposal. However, the use of these equipments is beneficial only if we handle them carefully both from the technical and Vastu point of view. If you possess a personal computer meant for business, you should be careful about placing it in the right direction. Although it may sound impractical for those who do not believe in good luck, for persons who believe in invisible energies all the electronic equipments should be placed on a separate desk on the west or northwest of the room.
If however, your assets are very dear to you and you wish to have them on your table, place them at the right hand side, but ensure that you have something taller to place on the left side. This ensures that the energies on your table are balanced.
Dial your Lucky Number
You may not believe this, but an indispensable instrument like the telephone can be lucky or unlucky. For good luck, place the telephone in the north, east, or southeast. Make sure that the wires are not visible. The main switchboard should also be in these directions as it is the source of energy for the telephone. You will encounter success when the incoming wire enters through the east. Now, when you dial the numbers that you require for business or official work, you will be dialing numbers that will bring you luck. Always face the north while attending to business or work-related calls.
Lucky Faxes
Fax machines, like any other equipment of the modern age, are an easy and accessible source of communication as well as an income supplementation tool. Fax machines are installed in almost every corporate and government office, yet there are some of us who install it for the sole purpose of income generation. Thus, fax machines demand attention. Place the fax machine in the southwest to make all the messages that come from this direction auspicious. Those who earn money from this machine will acquire profit-providing customers.
The Appearance of Your Desktop
So far, the placement of your office equipment has been suggested. The overall appearances and aesthetics of the desktop are also eminent. Your desktop should not be in a ‘mess’. The saying, ‘Cleanliness is next to godliness’ holds some significance. Keep your office desktop free of any unnecessary junk and clutter, like that of food packet wrappers, ashtrays full of cigarette butts, letters, bills, etc. Have separate drawers or trays for such items. Clear your desktop of rubbish. Empty tabletops develop clarity of vision and you will be able to propagate your thoughts clearly and rationally. This will give you good reputation in your career.
The Seat of Authority
The chair is the one single tool of authority from where the highest order can be issued. If your chair is meritorious it will, in turn, make you meritorious. The higher you are placed in life, the greater is your responsibility. A person, who dreams of a successful career, never fails to visualize himself sitting in an aristocratic chair. For success, use a chair with a high back, symbolizing a stable support from behind. This ensures a good support symbolically as well as practically.
Sunlight Affects your Career
Ajirnam bhjanam bhisham. Eating too much is bad. This also means that too much of anything is bad. If your office is spacious and bright with large windows possibly allowing a serene breeze to pass through, this might also provide you a good view of the scene outside. But along with breeze comes in the sunlight, uninvited. Many times, excess sunlight brings bad energy into the room due to the excess heat, creating disharmony within the office. A west-facing office is prone to such harmful energies. Avoid excess rays by rejecting offices with a westward wall with large windows.
It is natural for tropical regions to receive excess heat. But the effect of the energies can be suppressed. A simple solution is to use curtains to minimize the effect of destructive energy.
Water is a cool element. The ambience of your office can be cooled by using blue-coloured curtains, as blue is the colour of water. This serves the purpose of stimulating the water element, thus, subsiding the chaotic environment in your day-to-day work. This can be done in your office as well as in your home. This not only cools the environment but also your temperament and you can work with cool detachment. When the energies are balanced and you deal with your office work with a serene mind, it is bound to lead to a successful career.
Your Office Documents and your Career
More often than not, your career is prescribed on a paper filed inside a folder. Sometimes you are placed at such a responsible position that you are the sole maintainer of important files and papers. If you happen to misplace them, you will be nowhere. You might even find yourself looking for a new job. So, it is better to be careful with your folders, papers and files. Respect these as much as you would respect yourself and for this, it is essential that you love your career. Energize your important ventures by looking after your files very well. Do not place them carelessly under the table. Business documents should be well maintained by not just placing them in secret places but by not keeping them in a cabinet under a staircase. Staircases can prove to be unsafe if they are not well made and well positioned. Cabinets for files should not be made against a toilet wall nor should you place files near toilets, even by mistake. Do not take your files into the toilet. This aggravates negative energies that can inflict your files and eventually, your career.
The Vastu of your home and work place is always extremely important in determining your success. Any wrong placement may yield negative results, which need correction through the application of Vastu. When one faces any problem in the personal or professional field, it is wise to consult a Vastu expert who can determine the Vastu faults and suggest remedies. There are several instances when improper Vastu has contributed to the loss or failure of business or professional ventures. One such incident is my own experience which occurred in Delhi, when I was consulted regarding certain Vastu defects.
This advocate friend of mine had big and beautiful buildings in Delhi and was considered fairly successful in his profession. However, his initial success seemed to be quite trivial and temporary when he started facing problems in his personal as well as professional life. When his sister in Chennai learnt of his problems, she advised him to get the Vastu of his building and office checked. In south India, Vastu is very popular and people adhere to its guidelines in the construction of their buildings. My advocate friend then sought the advice of a Vastu expert from south India. The expert advised him to dismantle his office block. He did not come on site to see if the office had been built according to Vastu or what the actual Vastu defects were. He only relied on reports made by the owner himself. My friend’s father, who is a retired officer, could not quite trust his advice, because dismantling a whole office block would involve very heavy expenditure. So he sought a second opinion and asked his son to consult me.
On consultation, I always try to be practical and logical. In my opinion, dismantling and making structural changes should be avoided so I try to maintain a more positive and creative attitude. When I visited the site, my advice was against any dismantling. However, there definitely were Vastu defects in the construction and placement of the building. The underground water tank was constructed in the southwest, going against Vastu principles. In fact, the existence of a water source in the southwest corner can even cause death of the landlord. So I asked him to shift this to another portion of the building. My other advice was to shift the servants’ quarters to another portion as well. The entrance gate to such a big building was comparatively small, so I asked him to construct a big and beautiful gate and shift its position.
About six months later, he contacted me again to report on the wonderful results he got after following my advice on Vastu. It seemed there had been a sudden increase in the member of clients he served, and thereby, his income had multiplied itself several times. In the first month itself, while his main gate was being constructed, the amount of fees he received tripled. A number of people commented on the appearance of this new gate and were obviously attracted by it. The gate in itself improved the impression that people got of the building and the kind of work the advocate was providing. This case study teaches us the importance of adhering to Vastu guidelines. It is necessary to pay attention to the entrance and its appearance because people gather their first impression from the entrance itself. A beautiful main and imposing gate will definitely create a favourable impression on every one who sees or enters it. In addition to the appearance, the location for such a gate should also be carefully selected in consultation with a Vastu expert.
Lights for Success
Light is a form of heat energy, symbolizing wisdom and enlightenment of the human soul. There is a mutual enhancing interrelation between light and success. The interiors of a home or work place should always be well lighted to generate a friendly environment and create an ambience of peace and harmony. For this very reason, the northeast area should be left open so as not to obstruct the free inflow of direct sunlight, the main source of light. Besides natural lighting, artificial lights should be introduced into the premises of built structures, as they are good for correcting Vastu imbalances associated with buildings of irregular shapes. The north is the preferred direction of any source of light to be introduced into the room. Bright lights are particularly necessary in a room where there will be lot of activity. This is because bright lights make people more active. A bright spotlight over a desk helps one to focus on the job at hand and get things done more effectively.
Apart from natural light and other artificial sources such as bulbs and lamps, it is useful to implement the use of light– reflecting objects inside our rooms. In this respect, mirrors and crystals are extremely useful. In Vastushastra, mirrors, crystals and prisms are used to attract positive energy and revert negative energy to where they come from. Mirrors have the dual effect of receiving as well as reflecting light. This effect is used in Vastushastra for an illusion of increase in the quantity of food, money, etc. Mirrors can also create an illusion of space when used constructively. Mirror tiles, however, should be avoided as this can create a grid effect that may arouse feelings of confinement and restriction. Broken or cracked mirrors should be immediately replaced, since viewing broken images indicates disintegration and ill health. Crystals, prisms, and candles attract positive energy and allow it to spread in every direction. Objects of crystal, especially crockery may be collected and displayed at different corners within a building to create a beneficial environment. The shine in crystal is considered auspicious for the attainment of career goals. Festivals like Diwali, Christmas and New Year necessitate the beneficial effect of light to a maximum advantage and introduce a healthy beginning to any venture that might be undertaken in the future.
Symbols of Good Luck
The interiors of a building should be lined with objects of good luck if the people residing or working in it hope to make a success of their career. Let us look at some of the objects that might bring you luck in your endeavours.
The placement of aquariums in rooms allows people to have a view of water, however distant they may be from a water source. Fish is also used to improve the Vastu of a home or any building. Fish are believed to provide protection to a building and are related to promotion, achievement and success. They also symbolize true love. Viewing fish before travelling is a good omen and a symbol of success. In the Indian tradition, it is believed that the first incarnation of Lord Vishnu was the fish and it is an auspicious practice to have images of twin fish at the main entrance of a building.
Bells or wind chimes are hung because of the pleasant sound they produce. When strung at the entrance, they make a cheerful sound to encourage positive energy into the room or office. Windchimes today have become a fashion trend and come in all shapes and sizes. They were originally used to discourage ghosts and evil spirits that were believed to be scared of the pleasant sound created by them. Spirits are supposed to be thrown out of a building and positive vibrations are produced on putting up such objects. You will notice the presence of bells and windchimes at every temple or church building.
Moving objects like flags, banners, ribbons, pendulum watches and water fountains are also believed to create positive energy. Moving water is considered auspicious and this can be introduced in the form of beautiful miniature fountains. Make sure to place objects related with water in the northern corner of the room where the element of water is predominant.
Bringing nature into your interiors in the form of plants and flowers can be beneficial in order to create harmony with the world outside. Fresh flowers should be kept in the room not only because they lift the spirits but also because they generate positive energy. Dried flowers, however, arouse feelings of isolation and inadequacy and should be disposed off since they leave the environ dry and dull. Potted plants inside the room help in eradicating negative energy.
The placement of lucky objects inside a building is good but you cannot stop at that alone. Make sure these objects are cleaned regularly so that they might be more effective. If such objects collect dust, they will only serve as harbingers of misfortune and disaster. Cleanliness is always an important step to a better future.
The symbols of Swastika and Shubh Laabh above the main door of the office are considered auspicious. ‘Om’ or ‘Aum’ is the seed of transcendental realisation. By chanting this one word in conjunction with the breathing process as devised by experienced mystics, one is able to bring the mind under control.
Interior Layouts
The Vastu of the office or workplace is always important for a career-oriented person. In addition to checking the site, location and construction of an office building, Vastu principles should be followed as far as possible in the interior planning as well. The entrance to the office must be neat, clean and spacious and steps leading to it should not be damaged. The reception area gives the first impression about the office and it should be impressive. The owner’s chamber should be the largest room, placed in the southwest portion with the entrance and chair facing the north, but never the toilet.
If there is separate cash counter, the cashier should either face north or the east and keep the cash box to his left or right, accordingly. This counter can be located in the north where the accounts section should be placed. You should take care never to leave the cash box empty.
It is auspicious to have doors in all the four directions. The total number of doors and windows in every floor should be even. But the total number should not be a number with zero as the last digit.
An office facing the north is considered to be the most auspicious as this is the direction of Kuber, the deity of wealth. Roads and corridors are also best located in these two directions. Doors, fans, airconditioners or any other gadgets that are used in the office should be well maintained and noise free so as not to create a distracting environment.
Take care not to place statues of gods indiscriminately within the office building. Random placement of these without proper care and respect can bring contempt and unfavourable tidings to your professional ventures. It is good to commence any business undertaking on the basis of a Mahurat (auspicious occasion) fixed in consultation with a priest.
Tables and chairs should confirm to the Vastu norm of being either square or rectangular in shape. All heavy furniture and industrial equipments should be placed in the south or the west. With the exception of built-in furniture, all items of furniture should be placed at least four inches from the wall. The furniture should be comfortable and should induce desire to work in the people who use it. Never clutter your table or let any furniture collect dust.
Always remember that the divine is present in you and your office. As such, respect your working environment and put in your best effort. Never view the office as a place of unbridled tension and work as a burden. If you follow Vastu principles, you will find that you enjoy your work and the result will also be more productive.
Worshipping for Success
Vastushastra considers the performance of a ‘pooja’ to the gods an important step to achieving fulfillment of goals. A ‘pooja’ must be performed with full reverence so that the good will of the gods may be invoked and the devotees are blessed. In Hindu homes, a separate ‘pooja’ room is usually built where statues and pictures of deities are kept and regularly worshipped. This practice can also be introduced in the workplace.
Lord Ganesha is an important and powerful deity and offerings should be made to him before that of any other god. He is the god of prosperity, wisdom, science and skills. Such traits are very much a part of and a necessary component of a successful career. Ganesha’s carrier is a rat, which can travel through the smallest hole or chew its way through obstructions. This is why this god is worshipped to remove obstacles one may face in his endeavours.
Ganesha is the son of Shiva and Parvati and he himself has two wives Siddhi (achievement) and Riddhi (success). He is worshipped in temples solely dedicated to him and is found at the entrance of many temples of other deities. Business enterprises would do well to give the appropriate reverence to Lord Ganesha. He is seen on the altar in many businesses and also worshipped in homes.
The elephant-headed Ganesha’s appearance is symbolically potent, representing wisdom and direction. The wide ears allow him to listen continuously and receive abundant spiritual knowledge, which his large head can easily retain. The trunk is powerful enough to remove obstacles from a devotee’s path. His large mouth and stomach can take in enormous amounts of food, which symbolize all the experiences that come with life. The rat, which serves as his transport, honours the commands of Ganesha. It is symbolic of our own desire that we must subjugate to reach our spiritual goal.
Ganeshotsava is a festival specifically celebrated in honour of Lord Ganesha. Beautiful clay statues of the lord are made and worshipped during this festival. On the final day, the statues are taken in great festive processions and finally immersed in nearby water bodies. This festival is usually celebrated in the months of September and October every year.
Choosing Your Own Office
When you are faced with the situation of purchasing an already constructed building for the home or office you will need to learn more about the general history of the building in order to determine whether it will be lucky or not. Though Vastu defects can be corrected up to an extent, it is always safer to steer clear of those buildings that have either witnessed unfortunate experiences or are beyond rectification.
If you learn that a building has witnessed the occurrence of any unnatural deaths or a site where witchcraft has been practiced, refrain from buying it. Other buildings, which are considered unlucky, are those that have been used by unlawful elements in the past, and those which have come under a court action. Such buildings could have Vastu flaws and emanate negative energies.
If the previous owner has gone bankrupt or is very ill, it might prove very disadvantageous to purchase the building from him. A small building squeezed in between two large buildings or one that is constructed on a tract of land at the end of a road is also considered unlucky.
Avoid buying a building which is constructed very near a burial ground, a place of worship or a butcher’s shop. An L-shaped building or one with a verandah on the West is not considered lucky, nor are buildings which face a road perpendicularly, have a slope on the southwest side or those that are constructed on an odd-shaped plot.
Learn to trust your instincts and refrain from buying buildings that generate negative feelings in you. Make a thorough study of the building and its’ construction, to be certain that it adheres to Vastu principles. If you are unsure of the construction, you should call in a Vastu expert for help. Never buy buildings for an office or a home if you are not certain of its positive aspects, since this will only prove to be a cause for failure and unhappiness in the future.
